After having successfully returned to winning ways against Mahalapye Railways Highlanders at the weekend, Township Rollers face Prisons XI in what should be exciting football action on Good Friday afternoon at the National Stadium.

The Blues were exceptional in their last outing in Serowe against Highlanders, deserving more than the 2-0 scoreline suggested, and Popa head coach Romain Folz will want more of the positive energy but with more clinical finishing against the Warders.

Folz and his technical team will have more selection options after the recovery from illness or injury of some players.

Mmoloki Kebalepile and Keeagile Kgosipula, who have both recovered from a flu ailment, and Jean Betrand Irandikunda, who has overseen his groin strain, have all been back to training and are in contention for a place in the match day squad.

Rollers will respect a Prisons side who, over the past month and a half have worked to move up from a precarious relegation zone position to a more respectable 12th.

“Wa Motho Wa Ipetla” have done well in recent times; recording there victories, a single draw and a single loss in their past five fixtures.

Prisons’ wins over Police XI, Masitaoka and Mogoditshane Fighters plus a 2-2 draw with MR Highlanders will have boosted their confidence.

But that impressive run was put to a brutal end by top of the log Gaborone United, who trounced Prisons 7-0 just before the international break, which was followed by the Mascom Top 8 weekend.

After the break, Prisons’ scheduled encounter with Jwaneng Galaxy last weekend was cancelled owing to the heavy rains.

Rollers enter the Easter weekend second on the log, sitting on 56 points from 17 victories, five draws and three losses in the 25 games Pops have played thus far.

As the league enters it’s final five games, Popa now look to earn three further crucial points are the expense of the Warders.

The Good Friday afternoon kickoff at the National Stadium is 15:30 and Rollers will look forward to a strong home Gaborone support.
