Rollers, Nico Duel At the National Stadium

For the first time this season, Township Rollers return to the National Stadium hallowed turf when the Blues have had many memorable moments over the past six decades; this time Popa meet Nico United in a Sunday afternoon league duel.

Rollers have looked solid in their three league games thus far in this campaign, even dominant in the 1-1 draw with Police XI sandwiched between the victories over Mogoditshane sides Fighters and BDF XI.

Head coach Thabo Motang told Rollers Media that his side have been in good shape over the past week as they worked on physical fitness training at the gym work and tactical drills at the training ground.

“We are still missing Jackson Lesole who is recovering from injury and Aaron Marc Dion is also doubtful for this fixture. But the squad is in generally good shape, they are responding well to our programme. Since the start of the season to we have been growing in strength as a team, and we will continue being better,” Motang said.

Since returning to the Premier League, Nico have won 1-0 against Sua Flamengoes in the opening fixture followed by two goalless draws against BDF XI and Prisons XI.

“I saw Nico play against BDF XI recently, I cannot say they will have the same tactical approach against us, but at least we have some idea of how they apply themselves on the pitch. They have played three games and gained five points without conceding. This shows that they are a good team, although they have only recently returned from the First Division they are able to match Premier League sides. So we enter this game respecting the opponent, knowing we have to be at our best and focused on getting the three points,” Motang said.
