One foot on Top 8 semi finals
The rivalry between Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs continued on Monday, in the Top 8 first leg quarter final match. It was the second game in a row after the two met in a beMOBILE premier league match in which Popa won 2 – 1. The Top 8 match was no different from the league match as Popa continued its supremacy over Magosi, this time around beating the league champions 3 – 2. The masses of supporters who thronged the national stadium were treated to a five goal thriller. Chiefs goals from Bonolo Fraizer and Lesego Galenamotlhale were not enough to match Rollers three goals from| Jerome Louis (Brace) and Sekhana Koko.
The comedian supporter, Sam Rakgowa was seen singing and mocking his opponents who were muted. Coach Madinda Ndlovu thanked his players for the good performance and for showing fighting spirit. Commentors have since predicted that Rollers is likely to reach the cup finals and eventually win the cup.
The winners will go home with a whooping P1 million price tag and a floating trophy. Popa was the first team to win the Top 8 Cup when the tournament was introduced in 2011.
