Rollers Back To Training

Township Rollers on Tuesday afternoon began pre-season training ahead of the upcoming 2022-23 football season.

Speaking to after the first training session following the off season, Popa assistant coach Oarabile Wilshere “Demba” Seabo said the squad generally looked in good shape.

“It is good to have the players back, they look very sharp, not a single one has gained weight. We will be doing an assessment in terms of body check and fitness level, so that we can be able to measure where they are in terms of fitness,” Seabo said.

He revealed that a pre-season programme will include working on the physical fitness levels and tactical shape of the team in training sessions, and playing friendly games with a view of getting the team dynamics right ahead of the season.

“Pre-season is a crucial period in terms of preparing the whole team for the competition time, we are going to play some friendly games to try different combinations and tactics to see what works for us ahead of the season. This coming season we want to win silverware…you can recall we did not even reach a cup final last season, and that is not good enough for a club like Township Rollers. We need to get the team to perform at their highest level to win silverware for the club and the supporters,” Seabo said.

He added that last season Rollers played most of the campaign without a natural striker and the technical team had identified the need to look for quality strikers in the transfer market and that the transfer strategy would be informed by the need to get a good balance and depth in all the positions of the field.
