Popa Face Ostriches

Township Rollers on Saturday night host Orapa United in a Botswana Premier League match at the National Stadium, three weeks after the two sides played a well contested draw at Itekeng.

Over the past decade since Orapa was promoted to the elite league in the 2013-14 season, the two sides have played some exciting matches including memorable cup finals.

More of such could be expected on Saturday night.

Popa will be looking to regain winning form after a series of drawn matches.

The Blues came from behind to level matters in each of the past three matches against Orapa, Holy Ghost and BDF XI, and the Blues will now seek to dictate terms from the onset.

Popa face an Orapa side confident after their 4-2 triumph over Gaborone United last weekend.

That put the third placed Ostriches level on 38 points with second placed GU as the two sides chase top of the table Jwaneng Galaxy who enter the weekend on 43 points.

Rollers start the weekend fourth on the log with 30 points after seven wins, nine draws and a single loss in the 17 league games so far.

Orapa will pose a threat through on form forwards Omaatla Kebatho and Lemogang Maswena, and the Rollers defensive line will need to be alert to the danger.

But Popa pose enough attacking threat as well from all areas of the pitch.

Zebras international Mbatshi Elias, signed by the Blues from Orapa at the end of the January transfer window, brings to the pitch proven goalscoring pedigree. Having settled and regained match fitness, he could be an ace card.

The last time the two sides met at Itekeng three weeks ago, Rollers created enough chances and the Blues will want to be more ruthless in front of goal this time.
